Yogyakarta (July 31, 2023) – The Master’s Program in Mathematics at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) is organizing a deficiency program for some of the new students of the 2023/2024 academic year. The program aims to deepen the knowledge of certain fundamental mathematics subjects and provide the necessary foundational skills required to participate effectively in subsequent learning activities.
The deficiency program will run for four weeks before the start of the regular semester, from July 31, 2023, to August 25, 2023. The topics covered in the program include fundamental mathematical subjects such as algebra, analysis, and mathematical statistics. Lectures from the Department of Mathematics at UGM will be responsible for teaching and providing support to the students throughout the deficiency program.
New students participating in the deficiency program have appreciated its existence. Nadia Indarwati, one of the new students in the Master’s Program in Mathematics who joined the deficiency program, stated that this program provided a valuable opportunity for her to strengthen her mathematical fundamentals before embarking on the more complex master’s program.
The Head of the Master’s Program in Mathematics, Prof. Dr. Sri Wahyuni, SU., on the socialization agenda, which was held on Thursday, July 27, 2023, urged the students to take the deficiency program seriously and actively engage in all its components. It is expected that through this program, the new students will be better prepared and more confident in facing the academic challenges of the Master’s Program in Mathematics.
