AlumNight 2023: The Mathematics Department Unites in Togetherness and Inspiration

Yogyakarta – On Saturday, December 9, 2023, the Mathematics Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada, organized an alumni gathering event titled “AlumNight” at Auditorium A.106 FMIPA UGM. The event was attended by more than 123 alumni from various batches and study programs, ranging from undergraduate Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, to postgraduate (Master’s and Ph.D.) Mathematics. The atmosphere was warm and filled with joy as alumni reunited at their beloved alma mater to share experiences, success stories, and strengthen bonds of friendship.

The event kicked off with a warm welcome from Dr. Nanang Susyanto, S.Si., M.Sc., the Head of the Mathematics Department at FMIPA UGM, expressing pride in the success of alumni in various fields. The event was then symbolically opened with a party popper launch by the Dean of FMIPA UGM, Prof. Dr. Eng. Kuwat Triyana, M.Si., accompanied by the Department Head, Vice Deans, and the AlumNight Committee Chair. Simultaneously, the committee showcased a video montage of captivating photos over the years, grabbing the attention of the invited guests.

The highlight of the event was the talk show session featuring alumni from various sectors, including academics, researchers, and practitioners. In this talk show, the Mathematics Department welcomed Uha Isnaini, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., I Made Ari Susena, M.Sc., Febriandi Rahmatullah, M.Sc., and Dr. Mutijah, S.Pd., M.Si. They shared their experiences, provided insights, and inspired the attending guests. In line with the event’s tagline, “Building Bridges, Sharing Insights,” the speakers encouraged alumni to collaborate, build strong connections, and contribute to enhancing understanding and knowledge. This not only reflected the spirit of togetherness but also emphasized the importance of collaboration and positive contributions.

AlumNight 2023 successfully created unforgettable moments, solidifying the bond between alumni and their alma mater. Hopefully, this event will become a growing tradition, bringing together more generations of alumni to continue contributing to the field of mathematics and enhancing the reputation of the Mathematics Department on both national and international levels.
