Selection Test for Admission to the Master’s Program in Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Gadjah Mada University, First Wave, Semester I 2024/2025

On Thursday, March 14, 2024, the Master’s Program in Mathematics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), conducted a selection test for the admission of new students for the First Wave of Semester I of the academic year 2024/2025. The test took place from 07:30 to 14:30 WIB in a blended format, combining online and offline modes, at the Meeting Room of Building S2/S3 FMIPA on the 3rd floor.

A total of 19 participants took part in this test, consisting of 10 deferred candidates (those who postponed registration from the previous semester) and 9 regular participants. The exam subjects included Introduction to Real Analysis, Introduction to Mathematical Statistics, and Introduction to Algebra. Each exam had a duration of 70 minutes.

The event was opened by the Secretary of the Master of Mathematics Study Program, Dr. Indarsih, M.Si., who gave opening remarks as well as briefing the participants. Also present at the event were the Program Managers of the Master’s Program in Mathematics, Administrative Staff, and several Technical Staff from the Mathematics Department who served as exam invigilators.

The selection test for admission to the Master’s Program in Mathematics at UGM not only aims to select high-quality students but also serves as a strategic step in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education. By ensuring a rigorous and fair selection process, this program plays a role in creating equal access to higher education, enabling individuals from diverse backgrounds to obtain quality education in mathematics. Through an emphasis on inclusivity and equality in student selection, the program contributes to global efforts to improve the quality of education, reduce educational disparities, and ensure that all individuals have equal opportunities to develop their potential in a stimulating learning environment. Thus, this selection test is not merely an administrative process but also an investment in creating a more educated, inclusive, and sustainable society. It is hoped that through this selection test, the Master’s Program in Mathematics will be able to admit new students of high quality and potential to become leaders in the field of mathematics in the future.
