Demomatika #Series 4: Enhancing Mathematical Insights and Education Quality at UGM

The Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), successfully hosted Demomatika Series 4 on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. This event featured two esteemed academics, Iwan Ernanto, M.Sc., Ph.D., and Ari Dwi Artanto, M.Sc., both of whom are lecturers at FMIPA UGM. Held both online and offline in Meeting Room 1, 3rd Floor, Department of Mathematics UGM, the event attracted significant attention from participants.

In the first session, Iwan Ernanto, M.Sc., Ph.D., presented a topic titled “On Strongly Graded Unique Factorization Modules.” He began by outlining key facts to facilitate the participants’ understanding of the theory. Abdul Hadi, S.Si., M.Sc., acted as the moderator, facilitating an active discussion between the speaker and participants, both in-person and online.

The second session was led by Ari Dwi Artanto, M.Sc., who explained “The F5 Algorithm for Computing Groebner Bases in K[x1,…,xn],” a research topic in Computational Mathematics. Participants were highly enthusiastic, resulting in a very interactive and dynamic discussion.

The material presented in Demomatika Series 4 was derived from the dissertation research of both speakers during their doctoral programs. Both are graduates of prestigious universities in Japan, with Ari Dwi Artanto, M.Sc., completing his studies at Kanazawa University. This discussion provided valuable insights, particularly in the context of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Goal 4: Quality Education. Demomatika Series 4 serves as a platform to enhance the quality of education and learning opportunities for participants, especially in the fields of Algebra, Number Theory, and Computational Mathematics.
