On Friday, August 2, 2024, the Master’s Program in Mathematics, FMIPA UGM, held an event to socialize the 2022 Curriculum and provide guidance on filling out the Study Plan Card (KRS) for Semester I of the Academic Year 2024/2025. This event was specifically organized for new students of the 2024/2025 academic year.

Dr. Nanang Susyanto, M.Sc., M.Act.Sc., Head of the Mathematics Department, opened the event with a welcome address and an introduction to the Mathematics Department, followed by an explanation of the facilities, resources, and infrastructure available to support students’ academic activities. The Secretary of the Mathematics Department, Dr. Noorma Yulia Megawati, S.Si., M.Sc., M.Act.Sc., also provided additional information about the various activities within the department. Active student participation is essential for all departmental activities.

“This socialization event aims to provide new students with a comprehensive understanding of the 2022 curriculum structure that they will follow throughout their studies in the Master’s Program in Mathematics. The 2022 curriculum is designed to offer flexibility and focuses on developing competencies relevant to industry needs and research in the field of mathematics,” explained Prof. Dr. Sri Wahyuni, M.S., Head of the Master’s Program in Mathematics. This flexible curriculum supports SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by preparing students to meet the evolving demands of industry and research.

During the event, Dr. Indarsih, M.Si., Secretary of the Program, provided an explanation of the technical aspects of course selection, the procedure for filling out the Study Plan Card (KRS), and tips for effective study planning. Students were encouraged to consult with academic advisors when choosing courses to align with their interests and study plans.

The socialization also covered the procedures and methods for filling out the KRS. New students were guided step-by-step on how to complete the KRS online through the Student Simaster system provided by Universitas Gadjah Mada. Assisted by Wira Kurniawan and Emiliana Sunaryani Y, as program administrators and PUMK Prodi treasurer, who helped answer questions during the Q&A session.

The final session of the event was a brief introduction to the Postgraduate Mathematics Student Association (HIMPASTIKA). The moderator and current Chairman of HIMPASTIKA, Muhammad Reza Subakti, explained the activities organized by HIMPASTIKA and the roles and benefits of joining the association for new students.

The students were very enthusiastic about the event, having the opportunity to ask questions and receive clarification directly from the department and program managers as well as academic staff regarding any aspects they did not understand.

With this socialization, it is hoped that new students will be better prepared and have a clearer understanding of the curriculum they will undertake and be able to complete their KRS accurately and on time, ensuring a smooth academic process in Semester I, thus supporting the achievement of SDG 4 (Quality Education) and ensuring a high-quality learning experience.
