Implementation of Thesis Examination Semester I Academic Year 2024/2025: Achieving Academic Excellence Through Diverse Fields of Study

The Master of Mathematics Program, FMIPA UGM, has successfully completed 40 thesis examination sessions, covering both Thesis I and Thesis II, during the period from June to November 2024. These examinations involved students from various fields of study, including Analysis, Algebra, Statistics, and Applied Mathematics.

Held in the Meeting Room of the S2/S3 FMIPA UGM Building on the 3rd floor, the sessions featured examiners who are academics and experts in their respective fields. The diverse research topics presented by the students reflect significant contributions to the development of mathematical sciences, both theoretically and practically.

In the field of Analysis, students explored integral theory and the application of functional analysis in data modeling. For Algebra, the focus was on group theory and its implementation in cryptography. Meanwhile, in Statistics, topics included spatial data analysis, modern statistical modeling, and trend predictions using innovative approaches. Students in Applied Mathematics presented models such as lung cancer growth with innate immune response and mathematical models for the transmission of Yaws disease through contact between infected individuals and flies as vectors.

The Head of the Master of Mathematics Program, Prof. Dr. Sri Wahyuni, S.U., expressed appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the students. “We are very proud of the achievements of our students, who have not only met high academic standards but also produced work that is relevant to the advancement of knowledge and its application in society,” she said.

The thesis evaluation process was conducted with a high level of objectivity, assessing the quality of research, presentation skills, and the students’ responsiveness in addressing questions from the examiners. The results of these examinations mark an important step for students in earning their Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree.

With the completion of these thesis examinations, the Master of Mathematics Program, FMIPA UGM, reaffirms its commitment to producing graduates who are competent and competitive at both national and international levels. It is hoped that the students’ work will serve as new inspiration for the development of mathematical sciences and provide tangible benefits to society.
