Yogyakarta, FMIPA UGM – The Mathematics Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Gadjah Mada invited M. Haikal Sedayo from PT Asuransi Tugu Pratama as a speaker in a guest lecture held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. This event was part of the Introduction to Mathematical Models (PMM) course, with the topic Introduction to Classification.
The guest lecture took place in Room 208 of the S1 FMIPA UGM Lecture Building, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, and was attended by the 2022 cohort of Mathematics Department students. Through an engaging presentation, M. Haikal Sedayo elaborated on the application of classification concepts in the insurance industry, providing fresh insights into how mathematical models support strategic decision-making.
Students attending the lecture showed high enthusiasm, actively participating in the Q&A session and discussions, demonstrating a strong interest in the material presented. One student noted that the session offered a new perspective on how mathematical concepts learned in the classroom can be directly applied in the industry.
This event not only broadened students’ understanding of the application of mathematics in professional fields but also inspired them to explore the potential of mathematics across various sectors, including the insurance industry.
