Selection Test for New Students of the Master’s Program in Mathematics, FMIPA UGM, Wave III, Semester II 2024/2025: Welcoming a Quality Academic Generation

On Saturday, December 7, 2024, the Master’s Program in Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held the Selection Test for New Students for Wave III, Semester II of the 2024/2025 academic year. The test was conducted in a blended format from 07:30 AM to 2:30 PM WIB at the Third Floor Meeting Room of the S2/S3 Building, FMIPA.

Seven participants attended the test, coming from universities in Java and outside Java. The participants showed great enthusiasm throughout the selection process. The test covered subjects such as Introduction to Real Analysis, Introduction to Mathematical Statistics, and Introduction to Algebra, with each subject allocated 70 minutes for completion, followed by 15 minutes to submit answers to the committee. The test questions were prepared by experts in their respective fields, ensuring the quality and relevance of the materials being tested.

The selection test included breaks and prayer time (ISHOMA), allowing participants to rest briefly. The event was opened by the Secretary of the Master’s Program in Mathematics, Dr. Indarsih, M.Si., who gave a warm welcome and guidance to the participants regarding the procedures for the test and key points to pay attention to during the exam.

During the exam, participants were required to remain on camera and submit their answers within the designated time frame. The program administrators and staff from the Department of Mathematics were also present as exam supervisors, ensuring the smooth conduct of the test.

This selection test is an initial step for prospective students to join the Master’s Program in Mathematics, FMIPA UGM, which aims to produce quality academic generations with the potential to become leaders in the field of mathematics in the future.

The event was concluded by the Head of the Master’s Program in Mathematics, Prof. Dr. Sri Wahyuni, S.U., who provided an explanation about the Master’s Program, LPDP scholarships, as well as information about deferrals/registration delays and the next steps for the participants, whether they passed directly or need to follow a deficiency program.
