The Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Mathematics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), have received full accreditation from ASIIN (Accreditation Agency for Study Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences, and Mathematics) a German-based accreditation body specializing in quality assurance for technical, scientific, and mathematical study programs.
This accreditation, valid from March 25, 2025, to September 30, 2030, confirms that both programs meet international standards. It also supports UGM’s Key Performance Indicators (KPI), particularly point eight: increasing the number of internationally accredited study programs.
The accreditation process began with an ASIIN assessor visitation on November 26, 2024. During the visit, the assessors conducted a thorough evaluation of the graduate programs through discussions and assessments involving students, faculty, alumni, curriculum teams, program administrators, and university leadership.
Dr. Nanang Susyanto, S.Si., M.Sc., M.Act.Sc., Head of the Department of Mathematics, stated that this accreditation recognizes the quality of all aspects of the Master’s and Doctoral Programs, including curriculum, teaching, governance, and the three pillars of higher education (education, research, and community service) as meeting international standards.
“This achievement reflects our Department’s strong commitment to continuous improvement. For students, it adds significant value, ensuring that our graduates possess qualifications on par with those from leading global institutions and are prepared to compete internationally,” explained Dr. Nanang.
He also expressed hope that this milestone would inspire the entire academic community:
“Let us treat this accomplishment not as a final goal, but as motivation to keep striving for excellence. May this accreditation encourage us to uphold and elevate our standards in line with the Department’s vision: to be a National Leader and International Expert in Mathematics, Statistics, and Actuarial Science.”
The ASIIN accreditation underscores the Department’s ongoing dedication to enhancing education quality and strengthening the global competitiveness of its graduates.
