Yogyakarta, June 18, 2025 – On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the Department of Mathematics FMIPA Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in collaboration with Politeknik Siber dan Sandi Negara (Poltek SSN), held the first webinar in a series entitled “Cryptography in Your Daily Life.” This interesting event took place from 13:00 to 15:00 WIB on the Zoom platform, attended by participants from various circles who are interested in the application of cryptography in everyday life.
At 13:00 WIB, the MC officially opened the webinar, welcomed participants, and thanked the organizers and event partners. The MC then invited all participants to sing the national anthem Indonesia Raya, which created a sense of togetherness and pride among the virtual attendees.
The event began with a warm welcome from Girinoto, S.Si., M.Sc., head of the PPM unit of SSN Polytechnic, followed by remarks from Dr. Nanang Susyanto, S.Si., M.Sc., Head of the Department of Mathematics FMIPA UGM, who officially opened this event.
Then, the event continued with a virtual group photo session, where participants were asked to activate the camera and ensure the virtual background was in accordance with the instructions given earlier.
After that, the event continued with two outstanding speakers. Both speakers emphasized the importance of cryptography in modern life and the need to secure digital communication. The first speaker, Ari Dwi Hartanto, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., from UGM, gave an interesting presentation on the role of cryptography in everyday life. Afterwards, participants were given the opportunity to ask questions and participate in a dynamic Q&A session.
The second session presented Dr. Sri Rosdiana, S.Si., M.Si., from SSN Polytechnic, who discussed the technical aspects of cryptography in securing data in the digital era.
This session was also followed by a question and answer session.Throughout the event, Dr. Solikhatun, S.Si., M.Si., a lecturer from UGM, acted as a moderator who guided the discussion and ensured the smooth running of the event.
In the closing session, the moderator thanked both speakers for their valuable contributions, as well as all participants for their active participation. The MC then returned to close the event, announcing that materials and certificates would be sent to participants. The MC also reminded participants about the upcoming Webinar Series #2 on August 15, 2025 at 13.15-15.15 WIB, with the theme Current and Future Cybersecurity Challenges.
The success of this first webinar demonstrates the growing interest in cryptography and its relevance in everyday life, while paving the way for further discussions on digital security and cryptographic innovation.
