Yogyakarta, August 8, 2024 — The Mathematics Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) participated in the Innovation Exhibition held on Thursday, August 8, 2024. This event was part of the workshop titled “Paradigm and Implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Program for High School and Vocational School Levels through Contextual Learning,” attended by principals and teachers from high schools across Indonesia.
The exhibition took place at the 7th-floor Auditorium of the S1 Building, FMIPA UGM, from 08:00 to 16:00 WIB. To support this event, the Mathematics Department actively participated in the innovation exhibition held alongside the workshop. The department showcased various innovations and works through product displays, program flyers, and standing banners.
The workshop aimed to introduce and implement the Merdeka Belajar paradigm through contextual learning at the high school and vocational school levels. The active participation of UGM’s Mathematics Department in this exhibition demonstrated their commitment to supporting quality education and innovation, aligning with the goals of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure).
During the innovation exhibition organized by FMIPA UGM, the Mathematics Department’s booth was among the most visited. Visitors eagerly approached the booth to learn more about the department’s various study programs. At the booth, the Mathematics Department introduced its programs, including Mathematics, Statistics, and Actuarial Science. The department’s team explained how each program not only provides a strong theoretical foundation but also offers broad applications in fields such as technology, economics, and scientific research. Visitors were impressed by the practical approach offered by the Mathematics Department. They realized that mathematics is not just about numbers and formulas but also plays a crucial role in solving real-world problems.
Overall, this exhibition not only provided a platform for the Mathematics Department to showcase its innovations but also successfully opened visitors’ eyes to the importance of practical and relevant mathematics education in addressing modern-day needs.
