Yogyakarta, November 14, 2024 – The Mathematics Department of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) successfully held a Technical Guidance Program to Enhance the Competence of High School Mathematics Teachers in the Former Residency of Madiun Region. This event, held in Auditorium A106 of FMIPA UGM, marked the culmination of a series of community service activities that started on August 31. This program was a collaboration between the Mathematics Department of FMIPA UGM, FKIP Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo, the MGMP Mathematics Teachers Association of Ponorogo Regency, and SMAN 1 Babadan. The training was attended by mathematics teachers from Ponorogo and surrounding areas, with the main objective of strengthening their technical teaching skills.
The event began at 8:00 AM with an opening by the MC, Evita Purnaningrum, M.Si., followed by welcoming speeches from Iwan Ernanto, Ph.D., Head of the PKM Team, and Sugiyono, M.Pd., Head of MGMP Mathematics of Ponorogo Regency. Both speakers emphasized the importance of collaboration between higher education institutions and the teaching community to enhance the quality of mathematics education in schools.
Dr. Nanang Susyanto, Head of the Mathematics Department, delivered a warm speech highlighting the importance of data processing in teaching. The session continued with a presentation by Prof. Dr. Gunardi, moderated by Restu Ananda Putra, M.Akt. Following the presentation, participants moved to the Mathematics Department’s Computer Laboratory for a Microsoft Excel training session, led by Silvina Rosita Yulianti, S.Si., with contributions from Atina Husnaqilati, M.Sc., Ph.D., and Era Setya Cahyati, S.Si., M.Sc.
The event concluded with reflections from the participants, the distribution of door prizes, and a group photo to commemorate the moment. This training is expected to enhance the teaching competence of mathematics teachers in the former residency of Madiun region and serve as a foundation for stronger collaboration between UGM and the local educational community.
