Yogyakarta – Tuesday, (10/24/2023) The Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FMIPA UGM), received a visit from students of Al Azhar Islamic High School BSD. The event took place in Meeting Room 1 of the Mathematics Department. A total of 30 representatives from Al Azhar Islamic High School, including students, the school principal, and accompanying teachers, attended the visit. The visit was welcomed by the Head of the Mathematics Department at FMIPA UGM, Dr. Nanang Susyanto, S.Si., M.Sc.
In this opportunity, the Head of Al Azhar Islamic High School BSD, H. Mochammad Mukrim, S.Pd, expressed that the purpose of this visit is to provide guidance to students, especially those who will soon pursue higher education. Meanwhile, Dr. Nanang Susyanto, S.Si., M.Sc., expressed gratitude for choosing the Mathematics Department as the destination for the visit from Al Azhar Islamic High School BSD.
The visit’s agenda included presentations about the academic programs offered by the Mathematics Department by the chair of the undergraduate programme. Introduction to the Mathematics Program was presented by Dr. Sutopo, S.Si., M.Si., the Statistics Program by Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Dedi Rosadi, S.Si., M.Sc., and the Actuarial Science Program by Drs. Danardono, MPH., Ph.D. During the visit, there were also discussions between the accompanying teachers and students with representatives from the Mathematics Department at FMIPA UGM regarding information about the curriculum and the job prospects for graduates in Mathematics, Statistics, and Actuarial Science.
