Implementation of Inter-University Cooperation, SEAMS School 2024 Successfully Held in Indonesia

The Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Diponegoro University successfully organized SEAMS School 2024 from July 1 to July 9, 2024. This higher education event involved Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Lampung, and Universitas Khairun as co-hosts.

Focusing on “Derivation of Rings and Modules and Their Applications,” the event received support from the Centre International de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées (CIMPA) in France and the South East Asian Mathematical Society (SEAMS). It featured international speakers, including Prof. Vincenzo De Fillippis from the University of Messina, Italy, and Prof. Shakir Ali from Aligarh Muslim University, India.

During the opening on July 1, Dr. Nikken Prima Puspita, Chairperson of SEAMS School 2024, delivered a report on the event. The opening was also enlivened with speeches from various prominent figures such as Prof. Dr. Indah Emilia Wijayanti, President of IndoMS, and Prof. Kusworo Adi, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics.

With a total attendance of 55 participants from five countries, including Indonesia, India, the Philippines, Cambodia, and Bangladesh, this event aimed to deepen theoretical and applied understanding of derivations in ring and module theory. The organizers hoped that SEAMS School 2024 would serve as a platform for participants to “share, learn, and grow” together, in line with the Quality Education goal of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) point 4. Universitas Gadjah Mada sent a significant number of students and alumni, including Carolus Pasha Lazuardi Jituprasojo H, Dian Ariesta Yuwaningsih, Fatik Redy Hanif, Febby Desy Lia, Gusti Ayu Dwi Yanti, Mu’amar Musa Nurwigantara, Muhammad Fatkhurrohman, Saifullah Ali, and Yunita Septriana Anwar.

The event was officially inaugurated by Vice Rector, Wijayanto, S.IP., M.Si., Ph.D., marking the beginning of a series of educational and collaborative sessions that would have a significant impact on the development of science in Southeast Asia. Although the official agenda concluded on July 9, 2024, the communication and collaboration among participants are expected to continue. It is hoped that this event will serve as a networking medium, enabling participants to collaborate in developing the knowledge they gained during the event.
