“UGM Outstanding Alumni Selection Path”: A New Admission Test Path for the Master of Mathematics Program, FMIPA UGM, Batch IV, Semester II 2024/2025

The Master of Mathematics Program at FMIPA UGM is once again opening opportunities for prospective new students to continue their master’s studies. In the Batch IV selection test for Semester II of the 2024/2025 academic year, the Master of Mathematics Program offers three admission paths: the Outstanding Alumni Selection Path, the Research-Based Path (By Research), and the Regular Path.

Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) provides an opportunity for its alumni who have achieved outstanding accomplishments to further their education through the Outstanding Alumni Selection Path. The requirements for this path include a minimum GPA of 3.50, a maximum study period of 9 semesters, and a master’s program that aligns with their undergraduate or applied bachelor’s program. This initiative reflects UGM’s commitment to supporting the development of high-quality human resources who can contribute to the nation. Candidates in this path are exempt from the selection test and will be directly accepted for the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year.

The Batch IV selection process begins with an online interview test conducted by the review team for prospective students in the Research-Based Path. This interview is scheduled for Friday, January 10, 2025, from 08:00 to 09:00 WIB.

“This interview is not only to assess academic abilities but also to explore the research potential of prospective students. We are looking for individuals with an innovative spirit and high dedication,” explained Prof. Dr. Sri Wahyuni, Head of the Master of Mathematics Program. She also stated that the selection process is carried out rigorously to ensure that admitted students have strong academic potential and can contribute to the development of mathematics and its applications in various fields.

On Saturday, January 11, 2025, the Master of Mathematics Program at FMIPA UGM held a Substance Test for participants from the Outstanding Alumni Selection Path and the Regular Path. The test took place from 07:30 to 14:30 WIB in a blended format at the Meeting Room of the S2/S3 FMIPA Building, 3rd floor. A total of 8 participants from various universities in Java and outside Java attended the test with great enthusiasm.

The exam covered three subjects: Introduction to Real Analysis, Introduction to Mathematical Statistics, and Introduction to Algebra. Each subject had a duration of 70 minutes.

The event was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Sri Wahyuni, S.U., Head of the Master of Mathematics Program, who delivered a warm welcome and provided important guidelines regarding the test procedure. Also present were the program administrators, academic staff, and Mathematics Department personnel who acted as exam supervisors.

The Substance Test series was concluded by the Secretary of the Master of Mathematics Program, Dr. Indarsih, M.Si., who provided explanations about the program, LPDP scholarships, deferment procedures, and the next steps for the participants—both those who pass directly and those who need to undergo a deficiency program before enrollment.
