KAS3MAT Hosts Mathematics Webinar on Game Theory and Disease Spread Modeling

Yogyakarta, June 21, 2025 — The Alumni Association of the Doctoral Program in Mathematics (KAS3MAT) at Universitas Gadjah Mada once again held a scientific event in the form of a webinar titled Game Theory and Disease Spread Modeling on Saturday, June 21, 2025. The webinar was conducted virtually via Zoom and attended by 105 participants, including alumni, academics, and students from various institutions.

The event was opened with welcoming remarks from the Chair of KAS3MAT, Prof. Dr. Julan Hernadi, who expressed appreciation for the enthusiastic participation and emphasized the importance of cross-institutional collaboration in advancing applied mathematics research in Indonesia. The session was hosted by Dr. Indarsih as the master of ceremonies.

In the first session, Dr. Rubono Setiawan from Universitas Sebelas Maret delivered a presentation titled Complementary Games: Theory, Development, and Applications. Moderated by Dr. Dwi Lestari, M.Sc from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, this session discussed fundamental concepts in game theory and its applications in fields such as economics, logistics, and strategic decision-making.

The second session featured Dr. Sugiyanto from UIN Sunan Kalijaga, who presented on Batik Motifs from Mathematical Modeling of Tuberculosis Spread. Guided by moderator Dr. Tri Sri Noor Asih from Universitas Negeri Semarang, this session introduced an innovative approach to combining art and mathematics. Dr. Sugiyanto demonstrated how disease spread modeling, particularly of tuberculosis (TB), can be visualized through batik patterns as a medium for public education and awareness.

This webinar served as an inspiring platform for participants to deepen their understanding of applied mathematics and strengthen academic networks across institutions.
