Yogyakarta, May 21, 2024 – The Department of Mathematics at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) welcomed a visit from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Brawijaya (UB) to strengthen institutional cooperation and share knowledge about curriculum and management between the two institutions. The event was held both online and offline in the Meeting Room of the Department of Mathematics, 3rd Floor, Department of Mathematics Building, UGM.
This activity aimed to exchange information related to the academic curriculum for students. During the discussion, both parties discussed various aspects of the curriculum, teaching methods, and innovations in mathematics education.
The event was opened by the Secretary of the Department of Mathematics FMIPA UGM, Dr. Noorma Yulia Megawati, S.Si., M.Sc., who welcomed the visit warmly. Following the opening remarks, the presentation session began with a talk by Hadrian Andradi, M.Sc., Ph.D., who explained the undergraduate program in Mathematics at UGM. In his presentation, Hadrian highlighted the curriculum design that adheres to current regulations, courses offered to students, and the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program in Mathematics at UGM.
The next presentation was delivered by Prof. Dr. Sri Wahyuni, SU, Head of the Master’s Program in Mathematics at UGM. Prof. Sri Wahyuni elaborated on the curriculum structure, ongoing research, and achievements of the master’s program. She also discussed efforts to enhance the quality of education and research at the postgraduate level. Following this, the presentation on the doctoral program was delivered by Prof. Dr. Ch. Rini Indrati, M.Si., Head of the Doctoral Program in Mathematics at UGM.
The discussion was warm and interactive, with faculty members from both universities sharing their experiences and perspectives on various challenges and opportunities in mathematics education, directly supporting the enhancement of education quality (SDGs 4) and strengthening research and innovation capacity (SDGs 9).
The event concluded with an exchange of mementos between the two institutions, followed by a group photo session. Dr. Nanang Susyanto, S.Si., M.Sc., Head of the Department of Mathematics at UGM, expressed his hope to further strengthen the relationship between FMIPA UB and the Department of Mathematics UGM in advancing education and research in mathematics during his closing remarks.
