Students from the Department of Mathematics at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) have once again proven their excellence in a national competition. At the National Competition of de Estadisticas (Nacoesta) 2024, organized by Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang, UGM’s team achieved remarkable success by winning in the infographic and essay categories.
In this competition, the Department of Mathematics won two categories. The first category is Nacoesta Infographics Competition (NEC), which was successfully won by Hanna Marie Octavia Br. Simanjuntak (Statistics 2022) as the first winner. The second category is Nacoesta Essay Competition (NIC), which was successfully won by Gian Luky Saputra (Statistics 2021) and Saprina Saputri (Statistics 2021) as the second winner. This success is clear evidence that Statistics UGM students have high competence and competitiveness in the field of statistics and applied mathematics.
Nacoesta is known as a prestigious competition in the field of statistics, and the success of the UGM team in 2024 adds to the long list of achievements by the Department of Mathematics. This achievement also supports the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by demonstrating high educational standards and academic excellence. Additionally, this success is relevant to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, as it equips students with the necessary skills to contribute to the economy through data utilization and statistical analysis.
This achievement is the result of hard work, dedication, and guidance from highly competent faculty members. Congratulations to the winners! May this achievement inspire other students to continue excelling and bringing glory to Universitas Gadjah Mada at the national and international levels.
