A team of Statistics students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has won 2nd place in the Data Analysis category at the Informatics Festival (IFEST) competition organized by Universitas Padjadjaran. This outstanding achievement was accomplished by a team of three students from the 2022 cohort: Aulia Mirfah Setyo Ayu D., Fitri Hartanti, and Erlin Shofiana.
The competition challenged participants to analyze datasets and generate valuable insights to support decision-making. The competition events took place from August to October 2024. Registration was open from August 17 to September 7, 2024, followed by the dataset announcement on September 8, 2024. Participants had until September 25, 2024, to submit their final analysis products. The final stage was held on October 4, 2024, and the winners were announced on October 5, 2024.
The active participation of UGM Mathematics Department students in this competition indirectly supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as SDG 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing data literacy and analysis among participants, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through the development of innovative data-driven solutions, and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by providing analysis that can support decision-making for sustainable urban development.
This victory serves as concrete evidence of the expertise and dedication of UGM Statistics students in data analysis and adds to the growing list of FMIPA UGM’s achievements. It is hoped that this accomplishment will inspire other students to continue developing their skills and achieve similar successes in the future.
Congratulations to Aulia, Fitri, and Erlin for their remarkable achievement! Keep striving for greater success and continue to bring honor to UGM’s Mathematics Department.
