On Sunday, November 3, 2024, the Pogung Kidul Multipurpose Building became the center of spirited sporting activities as the Mini Tournament 2024 took place. This badminton tournament, involving students and alumni of the UGM Graduate School of Mathematics from the 2021-2024 cohort, aimed to uncover talent, strengthen relationships, and provide refreshing entertainment for the participants.
The event kicked off brightly at 8:00 AM WIB, starting with warm welcomes from the committee chairperson, Nadia Indarwati Setia Budi, and the Chair of Himpastika, M. Reza Subakti. Both provided motivation and enthusiasm to all participants and spectators, creating an atmosphere full of excitement. The matches began with the Women’s Doubles and Men’s Doubles categories, held simultaneously on two courts, showcasing thrilling action and highly competitive games.
After a break for the Zuhr prayer, the tournament continued with the semi-finals for the Mixed Doubles category, where teams prepared to compete for a spot in the finals. The final matches were even more exciting, with teams showcasing their skills. In the Women’s Doubles category, Team Labubu faced Team D’Sister, while in the Men’s Doubles category, Team FF competed against Team Rica Babi Sedap Mantap. In the end, the Mixed Doubles category featured an exciting duel between Team Makan Ramen and L-Family.
The highlight of the event was the award presentation to the winners and recognition for the best supporters, proudly claimed by the 2024 cohort. A lively atmosphere of joy and pride enveloped the building as participants and spectators gathered for a group photo, celebrating the precious moments of the Mini Tournament 2024.
With the success of this event, it is hoped that the spirit of sportsmanship can continue to be fostered and relationships among students of the UGM Graduate School of Mathematics can be strengthened. Activities like this not only provide a space for talent development but also create stronger bonds among the academic community.
