Yogyakarta – The Postgraduate Student Association of Mathematics (HIMPASTIKA) FMIPA UGM successfully held its Musyawarah Besar (MUBES) 2025 on Saturday–Sunday, February 22–23, 2025, at Meeting Room 1, 3rd Floor of the Department of Mathematics. This event was attended by the management team of the Department of Mathematics, the management of the Master’s Program in Mathematics, the HIMPASTIKA board for the 2024–2025 period, postgraduate students from the 2022–2024 cohort, and representatives from the Postgraduate Student Association of Computer Science (HIMPASIKOM) and the Postgraduate Student Association of Physics (HMPF).
MUBES was held as a forum to evaluate the performance of the previous administration, discuss the Anggaran Dasar/Anggaran Rumah Tangga (AD/ART) and Garis-Garis Besar Haluan Kerja (GBHK), and elect the new board. The main agenda included the presentation of accountability reports, revision of AD/ART and GBHK, election of the HIMPASTIKA Chair for the 2025 period, and a discussion of projected work programs for the upcoming administration.
The Chair of the Department of Mathematics, Dr. Nanang Susyanto, M.Sc., M.Act.Sc., in his speech, emphasized the importance of HIMPASTIKA’s role in building a solid academic community and supporting the development of postgraduate students. Meanwhile, the Chair of the Master’s Program in Mathematics, Prof. Dr. Sri Wahyuni, S.U., expressed appreciation for the achievements of the previous board and hoped that the new leadership would continue to enhance its contributions to students and the department.
One of the key agendas was the election of the HIMPASTIKA Chair for the 2025/2026 period, which was conducted through open deliberation. Among the six proposed candidates, two expressed their willingness to run for the position: M. Syadam Purwanto and Wiwied Ishartuti.
Both candidates were given the opportunity to introduce themselves, share their educational background, areas of interest (Algebra, Analysis, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics), and their vision and mission for leadership. Subsequently, an internal deliberation was held, followed by participation from students of the 2023 and 2024 cohorts. After a democratic discussion, the majority of participants elected M. Syadam Purwanto as the new HIMPASTIKA Chair for the 2025/2026 period.
In his remarks, Syadam expressed his commitment to strengthening cross-party collaboration, improving the quality of work programs, and empowering HIMPASTIKA members more effectively.
This MUBES also resulted in several strategic recommendations, including strengthening alumni networks, enhancing student research quality, and organizing more inclusive and innovative activities.
The outgoing HIMPASTIKA Chair for the 2024/2025 period, Muhammad Reza Subakti, expressed gratitude to all board members for their dedication. He also appreciated the committee and participants for ensuring the smooth running of MUBES. “Congratulations to M. Syadam Purwanto as HIMPASTIKA Chair for 2025/2026. May he bring innovation and strengthen HIMPASTIKA’s role in supporting activities in the Master’s Program in Mathematics and the Department of Mathematics. Thank you to all the committee members and participants who contributed to the success of this event. May HIMPASTIKA continue to grow and benefit all its members,” he said.
With the conclusion of MUBES 2025, HIMPASTIKA is expected to continue to grow as a progressive and collaborative postgraduate student organization, making tangible contributions to academic development and student affairs in the Master’s Program in Mathematics at FMIPA UGM.
