On Saturday, May 10, 2025, the Graduate Student Association of Mathematics (HIMPASTIKA) FMIPA UGM held the Inauguration Ceremony for the HIMPASTIKA Management for the 2025-2026 period and the Discussion of HIMPASTIKA’s Work Program. The event took place in Meeting Room 1, 3rd Floor, Mathematics Department Building, FMIPA UGM, and was attended by the Head of the Mathematics Department, the Manager of the Master’s Program in Mathematics along with academic and financial administrators, HIMATIKA management, HIMPASTIKA management period 2024–2025, and HIMPASTIKA management period 2025–2026.
The event began at 08.00 AM with an opening ceremony, including the singing of the national anthem “Indonesia Raya” and the “Gadjah Mada Hymn.” In her speech, Prof. Dr. Sri Wahyuni, S.U., as the Chairperson of the Master’s Program in Mathematics, emphasized the importance of the students’ role in creating a conducive academic atmosphere as well as contributing positively to the development of mathematical science in Indonesia. She also expressed appreciation to the HIMPASTIKA management period 2024–2025 for their participation and cooperation during the past year. Numerous major activities were successfully held thanks to the good collaboration between the Mathematics Department and the students, especially the active role of HIMPASTIKA in achieving the international ASIIN accreditation, which was awarded to the Master’s Program in Mathematics with an excellent predicate.
“There are many white flowers, from roses, jasmine, to lotuses. To the former HIMPASTIKA management, we say thank you. Hopefully, your theses will be completed soon,” said the Head of the Mathematics Department, Dr. Nanang Susyanto, M.Sc., opening his speech with a traditional pantun (poem). “We are very grateful for the involvement of students in all academic activities in the Mathematics Department. Friends in HIMPASTIKA management are not only busy with activities but are also required to manage their time effectively and efficiently. The main priority is to complete their studies. Please divide and use your time wisely during your tenure as HIMPASTIKA management,” he continued. As a closing to his speech, he again delivered a pantun for the new HIMPASTIKA management, “We look at the stars in the sky, in the sea we find fish. To the new management, good luck. Let us together pursue success.”
The event continued with the inauguration of the New HIMPASTIKA Management period 2025–2026 by the Head of the Mathematics Department. This year’s HIMPASTIKA management cabinet carries the name INFINITY. The name is inspired by one of the properties of fractals, namely infinite detail, which reflects the broad vision and mission of HIMPASTIKA. The fractal concept was chosen because it depicts the beauty of patterns that continuously develop and repeat. This aligns with the dynamics of HIMPASTIKA, which has a recurring management structure from year to year but always grows over time.
The HIMPASTIKA 2025–2026 management lineup is as follows: M. Syadam Purwanto (Chairperson), Wiwied Ishartuti (Vice Chairperson), Thalya Ayunda Salsabela (Secretary), Nu’im Khoirunnisa (Treasurer), and several students involved in the Interest & Talent Division (Fadlan Zhaahiran), Medinfo Division (Delasari Kathrina Pantow), Scientific Division (Chyntia Meininda Anjanni), and PSDM Division (Uskar Sabilil Mukminin).
The newly inaugurated management is committed to continuing various programs initiated by the previous management as well as developing new innovations for the advancement of HIMPASTIKA. They also expressed their readiness to collaborate with the Study Program and the Mathematics Department in supporting various activities to be held during the one-year management period ahead.
“Hopefully, the INFINITY Cabinet can become an inspiring growth space, and HIMPASTIKA can increasingly demonstrate its existence both on campus and beyond. We also have a commitment to strengthen synergy among members and build a more active and inclusive HIMPASTIKA,” explained M. Syadam Purwanto enthusiastically.
The event, which was hosted by Leniy Eka Watiy, concluded with a group photo session. The warm and optimistic atmosphere colored the course of the event, marking a positive beginning for HIMPASTIKA 2025–2026 in carrying out its duties and responsibilities.
