On Wednesday, July 26, 2023, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held its postgraduate graduation ceremony at Grha Sabha Pramana. The Period IV Graduates of the Academic Year 2022/2023 from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMNS) consisted of 22 Master’s (S2) graduates and 8 Doctoral (S3) graduates. Following the ceremony, a farewell event for the graduates took place at the FMNS Auditorium, UGM. The Department of Mathematics marked the occasion with 8 Master’s (S2) graduates and 1 Doctoral (S3) graduate.
In this period, the Department of Mathematics had the youngest Master’s program graduate, Benediktus Panji Pradipta, S.Si., M.Sc., who completed his studies at the age of 22 years, 11 months, and 4 days with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.81 (cumlaude). Additionally, the fastest graduate was Dr. Faihatuz Zuhairoh, S.Si., M.Sc., who completed her doctoral studies in just 3 years, 9 months, and 19 days, achieving an impressive GPA of 3.98 (cumlaude).
The opening address was given by the Dean of FMNS UGM, Prof. Dr. Eng. Kuwat Triyana, M.Si. He conveyed that graduation is not the key to success but rather the beginning of a new journey. According to him, the knowledge acquired on campus should be complemented with soft skills, enabling graduates to implement their knowledge and meet challenges. He also advised the graduates to maintain a healthy lifestyle, possess high adaptability, and stay connected with the Association of Alumni Universitas Gadjah Mada (KAGAMA).
Representing the graduates to deliver a speech was Dr. Faihatuz Zuhairoh, S.Si., M.Sc., a graduate from the Doctoral Mathematics program. She expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the professors, staff, academic community, family, and parents. “On this occasion, I invite all graduates to uphold UGM’s reputation, let’s contribute through work and service for the progress of the nation and humanity,” she concluded.
