Yogyakarta, August 29, 2024 – Today, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held the graduation ceremony for the undergraduate program. This period, the Department of Mathematics graduated 50 students, with 15 from the Actuarial Science program, 13 from the Mathematics program, and 22 from the Statistics program.
In his address, the Dean of FMIPA UGM, Prof. Dr. Eng. Kuwat Triyana, M.Si., delivered an inspiring message to the graduates. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a spirit of learning and continuously contributing to the advancement of knowledge, especially in the field of mathematics and its applications. “Today marks the beginning of a new journey. Use the knowledge you have acquired to benefit society and the world,” said Prof. Kuwat. This message aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. With the knowledge and skills they have acquired, the graduates are expected to play a role in enhancing the quality of education and contributing to the sustainable development of knowledge.
On this occasion, Muhammad Zaki Nurkholis from the Statistics program received special recognition for his outstanding achievement, having earned the highest Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.86. He was followed by William Kosasih from the Mathematics program with a GPA of 3.81 and Elizabeth from the Actuarial Science program with a GPA of 3.89.
This event not only served as a moment of farewell but also as an opportunity for reflection and motivation for the graduates to continue striving and excelling in their respective fields. It is hoped that the graduates of the Department of Mathematics, FMIPA UGM, will bring honor to their alma mater and contribute positively to the advancement of science and technology, in line with various SDG goals, including SDG 8, which supports inclusive and sustainable economic growth, as well as decent work for all.
