Community Service with MGMP Matematika of Brebes Regenc

The Department of Mathematics at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) conducted a Community Service (PkM) activity in collaboration with the Mathematics Teacher Working Group (MGMP) of Brebes Regency. The event took place in the Auditorium on the 7th floor of the FMIPA UGM building and was attended by mathematics teachers from Brebes Regency who are members of MGMP, as well as faculty members of the Department of Mathematics at UGM involved in the PkM program.

The event was led by the Head of the PkM Team, Dr. Sutopo, with support from the Head of MGMP Brebes Regency, Winarno, M.Pd., and the Head of the Department of Mathematics at UGM, Dr. Nanang Susyanto, S.Si., M.Sc. The speakers included Prof. Atok Zulijanto, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., and Prof. Dr. Supama, M.Si., along with the PkM Team. Additionally, a visit to the mathematics laboratory was guided by Prof. Imam Solekhudin, Ph.D.

The event began with opening remarks from the Head of the PkM Team, the Head of MGMP Brebes Regency, and the Head of the Department of Mathematics at UGM. This was followed by the first session, where Prof. Atok Zulijanto delivered a presentation titled “Common Mistakes in Learning Mathematics.” The second session, led by Prof. Dr. Supama and the PkM Team, focused on discussing the process of teaching mathematics at high schools.

An interactive Q&A session allowed participants to engage in discussions about solving Mathematics Olympiad problems using various effective methods. This topic highlighted the importance of understanding flexible solutions in mathematics learning.

After a break, the program continued with a visit to the Mathematics Laboratory at UGM, guided by Prof. Imam Solekhudin, Ph.D. This visit provided participants with the opportunity to explore the laboratory and discuss its applications in teaching mathematics.

The event aimed to strengthen collaboration between UGM academics and mathematics teachers in Brebes Regency, while also contributing significantly to improving the quality of mathematics education in Indonesia.
