This initiative represents a close partnership between UNMUL, UGM, and MGMP Mathematics SMA/MA Samarinda aimed at advancing the fields of Mathematics, Statistics, and Actuarial Science and improving the competence of teachers in educating the younger generation.
On Friday, the event was opened by Dr. Dra. Ratna Kusuma, M.Si, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at UNMUL. The activities commenced with a scientific seminar discussing the significant roles of Mathematics, Statistics, and Actuarial Science in facing the challenges of developing the National Capital and realizing the aspirations of Indonesia Emas 2045. The seminar was attended by students and faculty from Universitas Mulawarman. Dr. Solikhatun presented on mathematical modeling for tuberculosis, followed by Dr. Gunardi, who discussed the role of statistics. Prof. Sri Wahyuni then elaborated on the role of algebra, complemented by Uha Isnaini, Ph.D., who covered the application of algebra in cryptography.
On Saturday, Mathematics teachers from SMA/MA in Samarinda had a rare opportunity to participate in training and workshops on using Geogebra and RStudio Cloud applications as teaching aids. This training aimed to enhance teaching methods and provide a more interactive and effective approach for students to learn Mathematics and Statistics. The presenters were a collaboration between the UGM community service team and the UNMUL team. For the Geogebra training, 30 teachers attended with topics including the Basics of Geogebra by Dr. Syaripuddin, M.Si. (UNMUL), Utilizing Geogebra for Linear Programming by Dr. Indarsih, M.Si. (UGM), Geogebra Classroom for Interactive Classroom Learning by Uha Isnaini, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D. (UGM), and Equations, Inequalities, and Functions using Geogebra by Fidia Deny Tisna Amijaya, S.Si., M.Si. (UNMUL). Subsequently, the R software training was attended by 19 teachers with topics including Introduction to R Software and Its Development by Dr. Adhitya Ronnie Effendie, M.Sc. (UGM), Data Exploration (Descriptive and Visual) with R by Mohamad Fahruli Wahyujati, S.Si., M.Si. (UGM), Hypothesis Testing with R by Andrea Tri Rian Dani, S.Stat., M.Stat. (UNMUL), and Correlation and Regression Analysis with R by Dr. Sifriyani, S.Pd., M.Si. (UNMUL).
Dr. Indarsih, Chair of the Community Service Program Committee, expressed her delight at the enthusiasm and high participation in this event. This is a significant step toward supporting the development of our region and improving the quality of education in Samarinda. Gratitude is extended to all parties who supported and contributed to the success of this community service initiative.
