Introducing Mathematical Games at MIPA Expo 2024: Sparking Interest through Education and Entertainment

Yogyakarta, October 17, 2024 – On the second day of MIPA Expo 2024, the Mathematics Department’s booth display attracted the attention of visitors, particularly school students and university students. The display was designed to introduce mathematical concepts in an interactive and entertaining way through various educational games.

Located in the FMIPA UGM Exhibition area, this mathematical games display allowed visitors to engage directly with various tools and media designed to sharpen their logical thinking, creativity, and understanding of mathematical concepts. From coordinate point games to dice puzzles, visitors were invited to learn mathematics in a fun and engaging manner.

This display demonstrated that mathematics is not just about theory, but can be applied creatively and enjoyably in everyday life. The lecturers and students from UGM involved in the event hope that the display can spark young people’s interest in mathematics and change the perception that mathematics is a rigid and difficult subject.

In addition to providing educational entertainment, this activity also contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education. By introducing innovative and enjoyable learning methods, this display supports inclusive and sustainable education, aiming to foster a greater interest in learning among students.
