At the beginning of Semester I for the Academic Year 2024/2025, the Master’s Program in Mathematics at FMIPA UGM is conducting a deficiency program for students who need reinforcement and additional material. This deficiency program aims to ensure that all students have a sufficient understanding and are well-prepared for regular classes. This activity supports SDG 4: Quality Education by providing additional opportunities for students to deepen their understanding, thereby enhancing the quality of education.
The deficiency program starts on Monday, July 15, 2024, and will run for one month. The program involves several competent lecturers in their respective fields, including the Analysis Introductory Team (Dewi Kartika Sari, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., and Made Tantrawan, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D.), the Algebra Introductory Team (Ari Dwi Hartanto, S.Si., M.Sc., and Iwan Ernanto, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D.), and the Mathematical Statistics Introductory Team (Atina Husnaqilati, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., and Dr. Gunardi, M.Si.).
The Head of the Master’s Program in Mathematics, Prof. Dr. Sri Wahyuni, S.U., in her speech, emphasized the importance of this deficiency program. “The deficiency program provides students with an opportunity to review and deepen material they have not yet fully mastered. We hope that through this program, all students will be able to start the new semester with greater confidence and be better prepared to face future academic challenges,” said Prof. Dr. Sri Wahyuni, S.U.
During the deficiency program, students will receive additional material and practice exercises specifically designed to strengthen the fundamental concepts needed for advanced courses. The program will also include Q&A sessions and intensive discussions to ensure that each student understands the material being taught, as well as written exams held at the end of the second and fourth weeks of the program. Students participating in this deficiency program have shown high levels of enthusiasm and commitment.
The deficiency program is expected to have a positive impact on the enhancement of students’ academic quality and support their success in completing their studies in the Master’s Program in Mathematics at FMIPA UGM. With thorough preparation and full support from the entire academic community, this new semester is anticipated to proceed smoothly and yield excellent results.
This initiative demonstrates the commitment of the Master’s Program in Mathematics at FMIPA UGM to providing quality education and ensuring that every student has equal opportunities for academic success.
