Open Creative Space: Co-Working Space Welcomes Math Students with Modern Design

Yogyakarta, (02/02/2024) — The Department of Mathematics has opened a modern co-working space on the 5th floor of the new building, allowing students to pursue creative ideas and foster innovative collaboration. This co-working facility comes with contemporary amenities like Wi-Fi availability, ample power outlets, and cozy relaxation zones.

It serves as a place for studying and working and as a platform for mathematics students to explore new ideas beyond the classroom. The chosen modern design for this new co-working space creates a pleasant atmosphere with open spaces and ergonomic furniture that supports productivity.

“Co-working space is the answer to the needs of mathematics students to have a creative space that supports innovation and collaboration. We hope this space can be an inspiring place to create better ideas,” expressed Dr. Nanang Susyanto, S.Si., M.Sc., M.Act.Sc., the Head of the Department of Mathematics and the initiator of this project. This aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4, which focuses on “Quality Education.”

The opening of the co-working space within the Department of Mathematics at UGM, which significantly contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 4, is hoped to bridge gaps in education and ensure that students not only acquire theoretical knowledge but also practical skills essential for success in this digital era. Consequently, more innovative projects and collaborations among UGM mathematics students are expected to emerge. This co-working space represents a positive step in developing the creativity and skills of mathematics students, strengthening UGM’s contribution to the fields of research and education.
