Global climate change is increasingly worsening the conditions in the agricultural sector in many countries, including Indonesia. Unpredictable weather patterns—such as floods, droughts, and storms—often lead to crop failure, directly affecting food security. In facing this challenge, agricultural insurance has become a critical solution, especially for smallholder farmers who are most vulnerable to these risks. CornCareX is an innovative computer vision application that leverages Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) technology to detect diseases in corn leaves. Developed by two students from the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada, this application is designed to help farmers monitor the health of corn crops quickly and accurately. The technology enables early disease identification, allowing farmers to take preventive or corrective actions before the disease spreads and reduces crop yields. 
A team of students from the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of MIPA, Universitas Gadjah Mada, consisting of Gian Luky Saputra (Statistics, 2021) and Daud Muhamad Azhari (Statistics, 2021), succeeded in securing third place in the Statistics Olympiad (SO). This event is part of the 2024 Poisson Statistic Competition organized by Politeknik Statistika STIS, under the theme “Data-Driven Development: Unleashing the Power of Official Statistics for Sustainable Futures.” 
Two students from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) have once again demonstrated their excellence at the national level. Immanuella Rere Kusumawardhani and Dimaz Andhika Putra from the 2022 Statistics Program successfully secured first place in the Smatic 5.0 National Essay Competition organized by Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ).
