Educational Staff of the Department of Mathematics, FMIPA UGM, Conduct Community Service in Blora Sub-district: Enhancing Digital Literacy and Social Media Utilization

Blora, Saturday, 11 October 2025 – The educational staff (Tendik) of the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) carried out a Community Service (PkM) activity in Blora Sub-district, Blora Regency, Central Java. This activity is a concrete implementation of the University’s Tri Dharma in the service to society domain, with the objective of improving digital literacy and the use of information technology among local communities.
The activity was conducted by the PkM team from the educational staff of the Department of Mathematics FMIPA UGM, consisting of: Parjilan (Chair), Imam Solekhudin, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., Silvina Rosita Yulianti, S.Si., M.Sc., Siti Aisyah, S.Sos., Karyati, A.Md.A.P., Wira Kurniawan, S.E., Sukir Widodo, and Emiliana Sunaryani Yuniastuti.
The event was officially opened by the Sub-district Head of Blora, Mr Hadi Praseno, S.Sos., who in his speech expressed appreciation for UGM’s commitment to helping enhance the capacity of communities in the Blora area via technology-based training and empowerment.
“We welcome this activity and hope the community can apply the acquired knowledge to support administrative tasks as well as local creative economy efforts,” said Mr Hadi Praseno in his welcome remarks.
The community service activity was attended by representatives of village apparatus, sub-district apparatus, and small business actors from Blora Sub-district. The PkM team presented two main topics designed to meet the community’s needs facing the digital era.

The first topic was delivered by Silvina Rosita Yulianti, S.Si., M.Sc., titled “Use of Social Media for Public Communication and Online Marketing of Local Products.” In this session, the participants were invited to understand the importance of using social media such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp Business as promotional tools for local products, and simple strategies for creating attractive and effective content to increase market reach.
The second topic was presented by Siti Aisyah, S.Sos., entitled “Use of Office Applications (Microsoft Word and Excel), Google Apps Features, and Digital Applications to Support Productivity.” This session focused on practical training in the use of office software and various digital applications useful for administrative activities, learning, and data/information management in work environments and communities.
The activity took place interactively and with great enthusiasm. Participants not only received the materials, but also had the opportunity to try the applications directly and discuss the challenges they face in applying technology in their daily activities.
The activity team leader, Parjilan, stated that this initiative is part of the commitment of the educational staff of the Department of Mathematics FMIPA UGM to actively contribute to community empowerment through improvement of information and communication technology skills.
“We hope this training will bring real benefits to the community of Blora in increasing work efficiency, creativity, and the competitiveness of local products through the utilization of digital technology,” expressed Parjilan.
At the end of the event, the service team presented a token of appreciation to the Blora Sub-district authorities as a symbol of appreciation and good cooperation. The activity concluded with a group photo session between the PkM team, participants, and sub-district officials.
Through this activity, the Department of Mathematics FMIPA UGM reaffirmed its commitment to remain actively involved in community service activities in various regions across Indonesia, in line with the spirit of Universitas Gadjah Mada: Serving the Nation. ...
“Refreshing Several Learning Materials Series-4”: Collaboration of the PkM Team of the Department of Mathematics FMIPA UGM and the Senior High School Mathematics Teachers Association (MGMP) of Brebes Regency
The Community Service Team (PkM) of the Department of Mathematics, chaired by Dr. Sutopo, M.Si., in collaboration with the Mathematics Teachers’ Working Group (MGMP) of Brebes Regency High Schools, successfully held an event entitled Refreshing Several Lesson Materials Series 4 on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Brebes 2 Public High School. This PkM event was titled “Welcoming TKA with Joy: Brebes Regency Senior High School Mathematics MGMP Learning Together with UGM.” The event was held in parallel and was attended by 56 mathematics teachers from various senior high schools in Brebes Regency and 35 12th grade students from Brebes 2 Senior High School. ...
