INFOMATE Team Wins First Place in the Infographics Competition at the National Statistics Challenge 2025

Statistics students from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) have once again achieved an outstanding national accomplishment. At the Final Round of the National Statistics Challenge (NSC) 2025, held by Studio Statistika, Universitas Brawijaya, on 2 November 2025 in Malang, the INFOMATE team secured First Place in the Infographics category. The team consists of two students, Hasna Mahira Mufidati and Ade Aulia Pramudhita.

The National Statistics Challenge (NSC) 2025 is a nationwide statistics competition featuring three categories: Data Analysis, Essay, and Infographics. This competition serves as a platform for active university students across Indonesia to enhance their skills and maximize their potential in the field of statistics. This year, NSC adopted the theme “The Detective Data: Uncovering Hidden Truths through Statistical Reasoning to Illuminate the World,” encouraging participants to think like detectives in uncovering truths through statistical approaches.

The competition attracted hundreds of students from various universities across Indonesia. In the preliminary round, a total of 103 teams from 24 universities took part. In the grand final, each category was represented by three to four finalist teams, bringing the total to 20 finalists competing for the championship titles.

In the Infographics category, the INFOMATE team from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) impressed the judges with their work titled “SiADMAS and AKSI SIAP: Realizing a Cyberattack-Free Indonesia.” The piece highlighted the urgency of building a secure digital ecosystem in response to the rising threat of cybercrime in Indonesia. Through informative data visualization and statistical solution-based approaches, the INFOMATE team proposed strategies for cyberattack prevention and early detection that can be implemented at the national level.

This innovation aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, particularly in strengthening secure, resilient, and sustainable digital infrastructure. Strong analytical quality, topical relevance, and creative presentation were key factors that earned the INFOMATE team the highest recognition from the panel of judges.

This achievement demonstrates the team’s consistent efforts in sharpening their data analysis skills as a crucial foundation for decision-making, strategy development, and problem-solving across various sectors. Through NSC, students not only improve their academic abilities but also expand their networks with peers from universities across Indonesia. This accomplishment is expected to inspire other students to continue creating and contributing through the discipline of statistics.
