The Mathematics Study Program, Department of Mathematics FMIPA UGM, hosted the first installment of the Mathematical Analysis Webinar Series on the theme of Functional Analysis on Saturday, February 15, 2025. This event was initiated by the Indonesian Mathematical Analysis Community (Kamindo) and held in a hybrid format, with participants attending both in person at the Department of Mathematics FMIPA UGM and virtually via Zoom.
The event was opened by the Dean of FMIPA UGM, Prof. Dr. Eng. Kuwat Triyana, M.Sc., who expressed appreciation for the collaboration between the Department of Mathematics UGM and various partners, especially Kamindo. In his speech, he also announced the launch of two International Undergraduate Program (IUP) study programs at the Department of Mathematics UGM starting in 2025. Prof. Dr. Christiana Rini Indrati, M.Si. (Chairperson of Kamindo, Gadjah Mada University), also gave a speech and provided a brief report on the activity. Dr. Dewi Kartika Sari, S.Si., M.Sc., the Chief Executive, reported that the webinar had attracted 285 registrants, including 157 lecturers, 75 undergraduate students, 13 master’s students, 19 doctoral students, and 21 general participants.
The webinar was moderated by Sekar Nugraheni, S.Si., M.Sc., who guided the discussion across three main sessions. The first session, titled “On 2-F-Normed Spaces,” was delivered by Nur Khusnussa’adah, S.Si., M.Sc. (Gadjah Mada University). The second session, led by Prof. Dr. rer. Nat. Herry Pribawanto S. (Sanata Dharma University), covered “Applications of Calculus in Infinite Dimensional Space.” The final session featured Prof. Dr. Sutrima, M.Si. (Sebelas Maret University), who presented “A New Approach for Non-autonomous Second-order Abstract Cauchy Problems.”
The discussion was highly interactive, with participants actively engaging with the speakers through various questions. The strong enthusiasm for the topics discussed reflected the significant academic interest in functional analysis. The event continued with the Evaluation of Kamindo 2024 Activities, presented by Dr. Mochammad Idris (Lambung Mangkurat University), followed by the Kamindo 2025 Activity Plan, presented by Dr. Pardomuan Sitompul (Medan State University).
One of the participants, Rafif Fairuza Ramadhan, shared his impression: “The discussion was very interesting. I learned that the definition of a normed space can be expanded by relaxing one of its conditions, and it can be applied to the cross product set of two vectors. This webinar is perfect for anyone considering a Final Project in the field of analysis.” He also expressed hope that similar webinars will continue to be held in the future.
With the success of this first webinar series, it is hoped that subsequent webinars will continue to provide scientific discussions that contribute to the academic and research community in Indonesia.
