The Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Gadjah Mada University, in collaboration with the State Cyber and Cryptography Polytechnic (Poltek SSN), held Webinar Series #1 entitled “Cryptography in Your Daily Life” on Wednesday (18/6). This online event, held via the Zoom platform, was attended by participants from various backgrounds who were interested in learning about the application of cryptography in everyday life.
The event opened at 1:00 p.m. Western Indonesian Time with the MC welcoming the participants and expressing gratitude to all parties involved. The event began with the singing of the Indonesian national anthem, Indonesia Raya, which fostered a sense of togetherness and nationalism among the participants.
The first speech was delivered by Girinoto, S.Si., M.Si., Head of the PPM Unit at Poltek SSN, followed by Dr. Nanang Susyanto, S.Si., M.Sc., Chair of the Mathematics Department at FMIPA UGM, who officially opened the webinar. After that, participants took part in a virtual group photo session with a background determined by the committee.
The webinar featured two main speakers. Ari Dwi Hartanto, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D. from UGM was the first speaker, presenting material on the role of cryptography in modern life and the importance of digital communication security. The session continued with an interactive discussion and question-and-answer session.
The next session featured Dr. Sri Rosdiana, S.Si., M.Si. from Poltek SSN, who discussed the technical aspects of cryptography in data security in the digital age. Participants actively asked questions and discussed the application of cryptography in various fields of life.
Throughout the event, Dr. Solikhatun, S.Si., M.Si. from UGM served as the moderator, guiding the event to ensure it remained conducive and interactive.
In the closing session, the moderator expressed her appreciation to the two speakers for their contributions and to all participants for their active participation during the event. The MC then closed the event by informing participants that the materials and certificates would be sent to them. He also announced Webinar Series #2, which will be held on August 15, 2025, from 1:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. WIB with the theme “Current and Future Cybersecurity Challenges.”
Through this activity, the Department of Mathematics, FMIPA UGM, together with Poltek SSN, strives to increase public understanding of the importance of cryptography and digital security as part of modern life.
