The Department of Mathematics at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) organized a workshop titled “Tips and Tricks: Research Grant Proposal,” featuring Jayrold P. Arcede, Ph.D., from Caraga State University, Philippines. The event took place on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, in the Conference Room on the 3rd floor of the Mathematics Department Building.
The workshop was attended by faculty members and graduate students (both master’s and doctoral) and aimed to provide practical insights and skills for writing competitive research grant proposals. Prof. Jayrold shared various effective strategies and essential tips for drafting proposals that attract grant providers, based on his valuable experience and expertise accumulated over the years.
Participants showed great enthusiasm throughout the event. Prof. Jayrold’s friendly yet clear presentation style made the attendees feel comfortable and open to discussion. One key point highlighted by Prof. Jayrold was ensuring that the research conducted provides real benefits and actively involves the primary beneficiaries. This aligns with the 17th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), which emphasizes the importance of partnerships and collaboration to achieve common objectives.
In his closing remarks, Prof. Jayrold expressed his immense joy at being able to share knowledge with the members of the Department of Mathematics. He was particularly thrilled by the enthusiastic participation in this workshop, which has inspired him to seek further collaborations in the future. The successful organization of this workshop underscores the unwavering commitment of the Department of Mathematics UGM to continually support and provide development programs for faculty and students, with the goal of achieving academic and research excellence.
