Workshop on CO-PLO Achievement Evaluation for the Graduate Program at the Department of Mathematics, FMIPA UGM 2024

The evaluation of Course Outcomes and Program Learning Outcomes (CO-PLO) in the Graduate Program (Master’s and Doctoral Programs) at the Department of Mathematics, FMIPA UGM, is a crucial part of the institution’s efforts to improve the quality of education. This evaluation is typically conducted to ensure that the learning outcomes outlined in the curriculum can be effectively achieved by both lecturers and students. This aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, which promotes inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all.

On Saturday, August 24, 2024, the Department of Mathematics, FMIPA UGM, held a one-day workshop from 08:00 to 16:00 WIB in Meeting Room 1, 3rd floor of the Department of Mathematics. The workshop focused on collecting data on the interim achievement of the course portfolios for the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. This event involved all lecturers teaching in the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year for the Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Mathematics, as well as academic staff from the Department of Mathematics.

“This portfolio will serve as a basis for evaluating and planning the next steps to achieve the goals set in the graduate program curriculum and to support the data for the international accreditation submission to ASIIN for the Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Mathematics in 2023,” explained Dr. Nanang Susyanto, M.Sc., M.Act.Sc., Head of the Department of Mathematics, during the workshop’s opening remarks.

The portfolio presentation for the Master’s Program in Mathematics began at 09:00 and continued until 12:00 WIB, led by Prof. Dr. Sri Wahyuni, S.U., and Dr. Indarsih, M.Si., as the Head and Secretary of the Program. After a break for lunch and prayer, the event continued with the portfolio presentation for the Doctoral Program in Mathematics from 13:00 to 16:00 WIB, led by Prof. Dr. Ch. Rini Indrati, M.Si., Head of the Doctoral Program in Mathematics.

Also present at the event was Dr. Budi Surodjo, M.Si., Head of Quality Assurance, FMIPA UGM. “This evaluation is part of the Department of Mathematics’ ongoing efforts to ensure that graduate program alumni not only meet academic standards but are also well-prepared to make significant contributions in their fields,” he stated while providing feedback on the presented portfolios. This statement supports SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, which emphasizes the importance of decent work and supports sustainable economic growth.

This presentation aims to evaluate the extent to which the learning outcomes achieved by the two study programs are in line with the targets set in the curriculum. Thus, it is hoped that this evaluation will not only provide a clear picture of the achievements that have been made but also serve as a foundation for continuous improvement to ensure optimal educational quality.
