Yogyakarta, September 21, 2024 – The six-day “Exploring Mathematical Modeling 2024” workshop officially concluded on Saturday, September 21, 2024, with a lively closing ceremony held at Room 3, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Yogyakarta State University (UNY). The closing event featured a social gathering and farewell party, leaving a lasting impression on all participants and organizers.
Throughout the six days of the workshop, participants not only attended lectures from expert speakers from NWU, UGM, and UNY, but on the fifth day, they also had the opportunity to present the results of their discussions on problems provided by Prof. Fugo Takasu. This presentation session allowed participants to share their insights and deepen their understanding of mathematical modeling. This activity aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, as it provided inclusive learning opportunities and encouraged cross-national scientific collaboration.
The day’s program began with an introduction to Nara Women’s University (NWU) by Prof. Fugo Takasu, followed by presentations from two NWU students, Yuka and Kaho, who showcased their research. These presentations were one of the highlights of the event, demonstrating the contributions of international participants to the workshop.
After the academic session, the event continued with a social gathering and entertainment. UNY’s Kelompok Sekrup student group delivered several creative performances, and some participants performed Himawari No Yakusoku, the original soundtrack from the Japanese film Stand By Me Doraemon, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere. On this occasion, Dr. Noorma Yulia Megawati, S.Si., M.Sc., as the Person in Charge (PIC), awarded prizes to the best presenters.
The workshop was officially closed by Dr. Fajar Adi Kusumo, Deputy Dean for Alumni, Collaboration, and Innovation at FMIPA UGM. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of mementos and a group photo, marking the end of a successful event that fostered academic cooperation and provided deep learning opportunities in the field of mathematical modeling.
This workshop not only provided academic insights but also strengthened collaboration among participants from diverse cultural and national backgrounds, in line with the spirit of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
