Yogyakarta, August 5, 2024 — The highly anticipated international academic event, “Workshop on Differential Equations and Dynamics and Bifurcation Day Seminar 2024,” officially commenced today at the Department of Mathematics, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). This event is a result of the collaboration between the Department of Mathematics FMIPA UGM, TU Delft from the Netherlands, and Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), and is supported by IndoMS.
The event was inaugurated in the Conference Room of the Department of Mathematics FMIPA UGM by Prof. Drs. Roto, M.Eng, Ph.D., Vice Dean for Education, Teaching, and Student Affairs (WDPPK) at UGM. In his speech, Prof. Roto expressed his appreciation for this collaborative initiative that brings together leading academics and researchers from various universities. This collaboration is a significant step towards strengthening international relationships and advancing mathematical research, aligning with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, which emphasizes the importance of global partnerships in achieving sustainable development goals.
The workshop is attended by a diverse group of participants, ranging from undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students to faculty members from various educational institutions. Not only are there participants from Indonesia, but there are also delegates from Malaysia, adding to the dynamic international academic atmosphere. The event is designed to deepen understanding of differential equations, system dynamics, and bifurcation phenomena through a series of lectures and in-depth discussions. This effort supports SDG 4: Quality Education, by providing opportunities for students and academics to receive high-quality education and training.
Following the opening ceremony, the event continued with the first lecture delivered by Dr. Wim van Horssen from TU Delft. Dr. van Horssen, an expert in differential equations and perturbation methods, provided a comprehensive and detailed presentation. In his lecture, he discussed techniques in differential equation analysis and relevant perturbation methods for studying complex system dynamics. This session not only offered new insights for participants but also opened up interactive discussions.
The event is scheduled to run until August 16, 2024, during which participants will have the opportunity to attend various lectures and discussions. Each session is designed to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills in mathematics, with a focus on differential equations and bifurcation.
This occasion highlights the commitment of the Department of Mathematics FMIPA UGM to supporting and advancing mathematical research through sustainable international collaboration. Through this activity, it is hoped that further cooperation among academics from various countries will be established, leading to new innovations that can advance the field of mathematics globally.
