Yogyakarta, March 1, 2024 – In an effort to address global challenges and meet the market demand for competent Data Protection Officers (DPO), FMIPA UGM collaborated with CBQA Global to organize a training and certification program for DPO. Two lecturers from the Department of Mathematics, Prof. Dr. Indah Emilia Wijayanti and Uha Isnaini, Ph.D., along with PhD student Abdul Hadi and undergraduate student Indriani Safitri, participated in this intensive program for five days, from February 26 to March 1, 2024, at Hotel Grand Rohan Yogyakarta.

This program was designed based on SKKNI No. 103 of 2023, taking into account the requirements of Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection (PDP) and ISO/IEC 27701, demonstrating FMIPA UGM’s commitment to developing quality human resources in the field of personal data protection. The activity commenced with a welcome address from Prof. Dr. Indah Emilia Wijayanti, emphasizing the importance of this initiative in strengthening cybersecurity capacity in Indonesia.

Throughout the training, participants were taught various essential aspects of personal data protection, ranging from definitions and basic principles to data lifecycle, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies. The material was delivered through a combination of theoretical and practical sessions, including case studies enabling participants to apply concepts in real-world situations.

The success of this program not only signifies the enhancement of individual capacities in the field of personal data protection but also demonstrates the commitment of FMIPA UGM and CBQA Global to supporting sustainable development, innovation, and secure infrastructure, aligning with SDGs points 9 and 11.
