On Friday 6th January 2023, the Department of Mathematics, FMIPA Universitas Gadjah Mada held an algebra colloquium which was held in blended at S1 building room 101, FMIPA, UGM. The presenter was Dr. Fitriani, M.Sc. with the theme “f-Derivation on Modules”. She was an alumnus of the Department of Mathematics, UGM, and currently pursuing postdoctoral program in the Department of Mathematics, UGM. This event is open to lecturers and students of the Mathematics Department of FMIPA UGM and the general public.
The activity was opened by Dr. Nanang Susyanto, S.Sc., M.Sc., Head of the Mathematics Department. In his remarks, he said that this algebra colloquium was an opportunity to learn to communicate one science with another: algebra and calculus. Both are the basis of fundamental science which is important for understanding applied sciences. In doing so, he also informed Colloquium participants that applied science is an enhancement of theoretical science, not just an escape as we are usually told.
Next, is the delivery of material by Mrs. Fitria. The participants were very enthusiastic about the material presented and actively asked questions of the speakers. There were 22 participants who took part in the colloquium offline, while there were 28 participants who attended via zoom. Each algebra colloquium participant also received an electronic certificate issued online. The colloquium event ended with a group photo.
