Yogyakarta, 25 July 2023 – The Statistics Study Program at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), officially commenced its accreditation process by the Field Assessment Team from the Independent Accreditation Institution for Natural Sciences and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA). The assessors present at the event were Prof. Dr. Janson Nalborhu, M.Sc., and Prof. Dr. Edi Cahyono, M.Sc.
The accreditation event spanned two days, from July 24 to 25, and took place at the UGM Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences’ Auditorium. The assessment was carried out through discussions between the Assessment Team and the management of the Statistics Study Program, wherein various aspects related to the program were openly discussed.
With great enthusiasm, the opening ceremony commenced with a welcoming address from the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Prof. Dr. Eng. Kuwat Triyana, M.Sc. He stated, “Let us utilize the presence of the assessment panel team to capture the true essence of our Statistics Study Program for quality enhancement. We encourage the widest possible access to the assessors for the best possible outcomes and inputs.”
Adding to the address, Prof. Dr. Janson Nalborhu, M.Sc., as one of the assessors, emphasized, “Our goal is to ensure that the data submitted to LAMSAMA is accurate. Together, let us create a bright future for statistics, where opinions are data-driven.”
With the conclusion of the opening ceremony, the accreditation process will continue for the next two days. The Assessment Team will conduct a comprehensive observation of various aspects of the study program, including the curriculum, facilities, research, and qualifications of the faculty members. It is hoped that this accreditation will bring progress to the Statistics Study Program at FMNS UGM and contribute positively to the advancement of statistics in Indonesia.
