The signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and Joint Colloquium between Mathematics UGM and Mathematics ITB

Saturday, March 18, 2023, the Department of Mathematics, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a joint colloquium with Mathematics, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). The joint colloquium, which was attended by academics from both institutions, began with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed by the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UGM and the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences ITB.

Although there have been many forms of joint collaborations between the two institutions, this Memorandum of agreement is intended to formalize the forms of cooperation that will be hels in the future. Memorandum of Agreement might be implemented in the form of collaborative research, education, and community service. Through this Memorandum of Agreement, it is hoped that the collaboration between Mathematics UGM and Mathematics ITB will not only be carried out occasionally, but also become a routine agenda to improve the quality of existing research and education.

Furthermore, the event continued with a colloquium delivered by UGM Mathematics lecturer, Hadrian Andradi, M.Sc., Ph.D. with the theme “Teori Domain dengan Perspektif Perubahan dari Directed ke Irreducible”. In addition, from ITB, Denny Ivanal Hakim, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D. also delivered a colloquium on “Suku Banyak Bernstein dan Operator Kantorovich” which was the result of his research in collaboration with several colleagues. In this colloquium, it was conveyed that Bernstein’s polynomial is one way to study the approach other than using Taylor’s Theorem, which is strongly influenced by the derivative of the function.
