Yogyakarta, October 26, 2023 – The “Professional Goes to Campus: Tugu Insurance – FMNS UGM” event took place on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. The event was held at the 7th-floor Auditorium of FMNS UGM, offering students insights into the practical side of mathematics and the advancement of knowledge in various industries. The speakers for this event were M. Ivan Faizal, the Appointed Actuary at Tugu Insurance, and Jusman Hutama, the Human Capital & Services Group Head at Tugu Insurance.
The event began with a report from the event chair, Dr. Nanang Susyanto, S.Si., M.Sc., who emphasized the importance for students to explore the practical applications of their academic studies. He encouraged students not just to swim in the shallow waters but to venture into the deep sea of knowledge. “This event aims to provide students with a glimpse into the real-world applications of mathematics, helping them connect theory with practice,” he concluded.
Prof. Dr. Eng. Kuwat Triyana, M. Si., the Dean of FMNS UGM, delivered his welcoming remarks, “Make the most of today by listening to experienced practitioners share their knowledge and experiences. We are preparing our students to be industry-ready, and events like this are instrumental in achieving that goal.”
The event was divided into two presentation sessions. In the first session, M. Ivan Faizal provided a comprehensive presentation on the crucial role of actuaries in maintaining the financial stability and health of a company. Then, in the second session, Jusman Hutama captivated the audience with his talk on the transformation of human resources management in the digital era.
