Algebra Joint Seminar: Dedicated to Dr. Diah Junia Eksi Palupi

Dr. Diah Junia Eksi Palupi, is a lecturer in the Department of Mathematics UGM who has entered her retirement period starting from 2021. Known as a disciplined, firm, and “outspoken” person, she is a role model not only for students but also for colleagues, especially in the Department of Mathematics UGM. As a form of appreciation for her services and knowledge, especially in the field of algebra, the Algebra Laboratory of the Department of Mathematics UGM, “Komunitas Pencinta Aljabar” (KPA) Central Region, and IndoMS DIY and Jateng Region presented an “Algebra Joint Seminar” (AJS) which was held virtually on July 22, 2021.

In this event, there were two speakers invited to present their research results. The first speaker was Dr. Nilamsari Kusumastuti, M.Sc. from the Mathematics Study Program, Universitas Tanjung Pura, who was a student under guidance of Dr. Diah Junia Eksi Palupi while studying for S1 and S2 in the Department of Mathematics UGM. The second speaker was Dr.rer.nat Yeni Susanti, M.Si. from the Department of Mathematics UGM who was a student under guidance and a colleague of Dr. Diah Junia Eksi Palupi in the Algebra Laboratory.

The event, which was attended by more than 140 participants via zoom, went smoothly. The event began with remarks from the KPA representative, Uha Isnaini, M.Sc., Ph.D., and followed with remarks from the Head of the Department of Mathematics UGM, Dr. Fajar Adi Kusumo, M.Si, who also opened the event. The event then continued by watching a documentary video of Dr. Diah Junia Eksi Palupi during her service. The next session was then filled with presentations from the two speakers. The first presentation was given by Dr. Nilamsari Kusumastuti, M.Sc. who discusses “Weighted Path in Lie Algebra of types A and C”. This topic is related to her research during his doctoral studies at the University of Poiters, France. The second presentation was given by Dr.rer.nat Yeni Susanti, M.Si. with the title “Prime Square Order Cayley Graph of Cyclic Groups”. The topic she presented was the result of a collaboration with Prof. Ahmad Erfanian from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran to solve an open problem since 2009.

The last session in this event was filled with messages and impressions for Dr. Diah Junia Eksi Palupi. The delivery of messages and impressions was represented by 3 participants, namely Muhamad Zaki Riyanto, S.Si., M.Sc., Musthofa, S.Si., M.Sc., and Dr. Al. Sutjijana, M.Sc.. Muhamad Zaki Riyanto, S.Si., M.Sc. and Musthofa, S.Si., M.Sc. themself were students under guidance of Dr. Diah Junia Eksi Palupi, while Dr. Al. Sutjijana, M.Sc. is a representative of the Algebra Laboratory of the Department of Mathematics UGM who is also a best friend of Dr. Diah Junia Eksi Palupi. In this session, each representative shared their experiences with Dr. Diah Junia Eksi Palupi and gave their thanks and prayers for her in her retirement. The session then ended with messages and impressions from Dr. Diah Junia Eksi Palupi and her family representative.
