Demomatika, A Fresh Atmosphere in the UGM Mathematics Circle

Department of Mathematics at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) proudly presents “Demomatika”, a monthly event featuring colloquiums, seminars, and a scientific coffee session every Wednesday in the first week of each month. The inaugural Demomatika took place on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, with an opening ceremony led by Dr. Nanang Susyanto, S.Si., M.Sc., M.Act.Sc., Head of the UGM Department of Mathematics.

Dr. Nanang Susyanto emphasized that Demomatika aims not only to build a lively atmosphere but also a sustainable ecosystem for scientific research collaboration between faculty members and postgraduate students in the Department of Mathematics at UGM. He highlighted the significance of this initiative, especially considering that postgraduate students are required to engage in research activities.

The inaugural session featured prominent speakers: Atina Husnaqilati, M.Sc., Ph.D., presented on “Equi-correlated of High Dimensional Random Matrices,” and Dr. Gunardi, M.Si., discussed “Deposit Insurance Pricing Using the Call and Modified Option Approach.”

The event provides a platform for faculty and students to delve into interesting mathematical discussions, creating a dynamic environment for knowledge exchange. Sessions are held in the meeting room on the third floor of the Department of Mathematics, creating a conducive space for intellectual exploration.

Demomatika creates a stage for regular academic interactions, offering an engaging space for the development of mathematical research and sustained collaboration within the UGM Department of Mathematics environment.
