The Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Gadjah Mada University, Prof. Dr. Eng. Kuwat Triyana, M.Si., inaugurated the Mathematics Department’s podcast studio called Ordinat (Chat in the Mathematics Department) on Monday (12/6/2023). The inauguration was marked by the cutting of the tumpeng, which was held at the podcast studio on Floor 5 of the New Building of FMIPA UGM.
Before the inauguration, the Head of the Department of Mathematics, Dr. Nanang Susyanto, S.Si., M.Sc., conveyed the philosophy of giving the name Ordinate. Ordinate is part of the cartesian coordinate system, namely the Y axis, which is expected to be a medium that can catapult everything in the Department of Mathematics and in general at FMIPA UGM.
After the inauguration, the Dean of FMIPA UGM appreciated the birth of the studio as well as the Ordinate podcast program. With this program, it is hoped that it can be a means of accelerating things that already exist so that it can have a broad impact both within the institution and outside the institution. He also hopes that this program can be a means of collaboration with the faculty to introduce FMIPA UGM.
At this inauguration, there was also a studio tour and the first podcast episode. Hosted by Arlyn, an Actuarial Science student, with guest stars Dr. Nanang Susyanto, S.Si., M.Sc., and Prof. Dr. Eng. Kuwat Triyana, M.Si., they discussed the function of the studio further along with hopes for the future.
The official launch of the studio portends increased creative activity in the FMIPA UGM Department of Mathematics. Many innovations are planned for the future; hopefully this podcast studio can be a means of conveying mathematical thoughts in a popular language, which will be broadcast through the Math UGM YouTube channel.
