Yogyakarta – The 2023 International Actuarial Research Conference is the first international actuarial conference that is currently included as a satellite event of The 9th Southeast Asian Mathematical Society-Universitas Gadjah Mada (SEAMS-UGM) 2023 International Conference on Mathematics and Its Applications, which will be held at éL Hotel Yogyakarta Malioboro on July 23-24, 2023.
The conference will witness the presence of actuarial science experts, researchers, academics, students, and industry professionals. It will serve as an excellent international forum for the dissemination of research findings, new ideas, and practical development experiences focused on theory and practice.
The IARC 2023 conference also features the Earthquake Disaster Risk Modeling Workshop, which will take place before the main event on July 22, 2023, at the same venue. The workshop is being organized by a team headed by Dumaria Rulina Tampubolon, M.Sc., Ph.D., who serves as the Head of the Actuarial Science Division at IndoMS. Moreover, the workshop will also feature several expert speakers in the field, including Yosef Ronaldo Lete Boro, S.Mat., M.Si., Randhy Pratama, S.Si., M.Aktr., ASAI, Indrayoga Putra, Vincensius Ferer, C.W., and Muh. Fauzan Rahmady.
“Today’s workshop is extraordinary; I didn’t come all the way from Balikpapan for nothing. There are still many topics that can be developed from the earthquake catastrophe risk theme,” said Numadina, a student from Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK).
In addition to the workshops held on the first day, the conference will also provide presentation sessions from keynote speakers Rianto A. Djojosugito, Ph.D., FSAI (Council Chairman of The Society of Actuaries of Indonesia), and Prof. Emiliano Valdez (University of Connecticut, The United States). Furthermore, there will be a panel discussion on the sustainability of Actuarial Science in Higher Education. Participants will have the opportunity to gain insights and the latest knowledge from actuarial experts and representatives from financial institutions.
With this comprehensive lineup of events, it is expected that participants will gain profound insights into the importance of actuarial research in strengthening trust and confidence in financial institutions, and they will be able to apply this knowledge for greater success in the industry.
